Postby MyRav4Car » 04 Mar 2015, 19:52

This is how I installed the CS9320A into my Rav4. If you wish to duplicate my installation, I accept no responsibility for any damage or loss to you or the vehicle you’re working on. Any work you do is at your own risk.

The HUD Touch monitor showing what happens when the ‘NAV’ button is pressed (before installation).

Step 1 - Determine the type of HUD
With the engine off but the keys in the ignition at position 1, press and hold the MEDIA button on the HUD, and then turn the lights on & off three times. This displays the SERVICE MENU.

Using an automotive trim removal tool (or a wooden spatula) gently lever off the corner of the clock trim, slowly lifting out and upward. Once the corner is loose, gently pull along the length of the trim to remove.

Administrator: Please change my User Preferences so I can edit/continue with the installation guide in my first post.

This way, future installers will benefit and it will be easier to link this guide to other forums.

Please.

Undo the four HUD retaining bolts (fourth one not shown).
4Bolts.jpg

Using both hands on either side of the HUD, lift the unit forward and slowly twist upwards to release from the housing. Before pulling completely out of the dash make sure there’s a cloth/towel covering the temperature/fan screen otherwise this will get badly scratched.
HUD-Out.jpg

The HUD can be left resting on the cloth/towel or removed/unplugged for easier access.

Step 3 – GPS antenna installation
Toyota recommends for best reception the GPS antenna should be located behind the instrumentation clocks and secured to the upper underside of the housing.

Using an automotive trim removal tool (or wooden spatula), gently pry off the clock facia trim. The clock housing is secured by 2 screws and ‘push fit lugs’; undo the screws and by gently pulling the housing forward gain access to the area behind.
Speedo.jpg

Feed the antenna cable through the area between the back of the HUD and the clock housing. Locate the GPS unit on the underside of the top housing under the cloth insulation. Secure to the roof with double-sided tape.
GPS-Location.jpg

Pull the GPS antenna cable through the area between the clock facia and the back of the HUD and cable tie in place.
GPS-Cable-Top.jpg

Now re-install the clock and facia.

Step 4 – Cable installation (centre console)

Four cables are supplied, but the only one used is the grey cable, the one with plugs on both ends. Find the end with only one plug on it, the plug that fits into the CS9320A, and feed that down behind the HUD towards the foot pedals, also feed the GPS antenna cable along with it.
TouchCable.jpg

Gently pull these through into the footwell but make sure you leave enough grey cable to easily connect to the back of the HUD.

Open up the armrest, and drill a 32mm hole in the front wall, the plastic is very thin and this can be done by hand with a hole-saw.
ArmRestStorage.jpg

Feed the grey cable and GPS antenna cable through into the armrest area.
CentreConsole.JPG

Pull the handbrake cover off and feed the cables along the inside of the centre console, well clear from the handbrake mechanism. When you’re satisfied you have enough cable behind the HUD, feed the remaining through into the armrest area. Secure the cables on the inside of the centre console with Self Adhesive 28mm x 28 mm Cable Tie Assemblies.

Re-secure the handbrake cover after you’re certain the cables are nowhere near the handbrake mechanism and the cables are secure.

Step 5 – Dip switch & audio box installation
